Welcome to Memories Lasting Beyond
We have heard from sermons and sayings that death comes as a thief in the night; or here one minute, gone the next. Death can come suddenly when we least expect it. These statements are true. So often you hear or read about someone who is suddenly no longer in the picture. They went to sleep and never woke up; or they were murdered; or they suddenly died from drug overdoses, accidents or suicide. The suddenness of it throws family and friends into a state of shock, disbelief, heartache and pain. Regardless of the circumstances of when, where or how they died, the affect remains the same. You are suddenly left with an empty chair or bed and no more hugs or kisses; just memories.
I know this sounds glooming and depressing, and people don’t often think about or discuss these matters until you have to. However, if you are aware, then you can prepare by developing a personal relationship with your Heavenly Father.
You mourn publicly while planning and attending services and fellowshipping with family and friends. Then the grieving process begins. You may or may not be aware of it as it relates to your daily experiences. Grief is a feeling of sadness and mental anguish, which is normal. It is a process that affects everyone differently and it takes time to work through it.
The journey is about coping and developing ways to work through your feelings; it’s about having faith and hope. It’s about talking to people you trust and who can listen and not judge; it’s about seeking professional guidance if necessary, and moving into the future with a heart of love and memories lasting beyond.
